Effects of magnetic field on hyaluronidase and β-D-glucuronidase activity and on hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate levels in rat liver

摘要
The livers of rats exposed to a static magnetic field (0.49 T) and an extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic field (50 Hz, 0.018 T) have been studied for any alterations in hyaluronic acid (HA), and chondroitin sulfate (ChS) content as well as for any changes in the activity of hyaluronidase (EC 3.2.1.35) and beta-D-glucuronidase (EC 3.2.1.31). The livers of animals exposed to ELF magnetic fields were found to have decreased HA and increased ChS content. Hyaluronidase activity was increased and that of beta-D-glucuronidase decreased. No changes were observed in animals exposed to a static magnetic field. The results of the present study may suggest that the metabolism of connective tissue basic substance is significantly affected by the ELF magnetic field.
