Osteoporosis patients are prone to surgical failure after oral implantation due to the low bone density and poor bone healing ability. Improving the osseointegration effect by processing the surface topography of the implant is a promising method. Using the TiO2 nanotubes as a new type of carrier to load metal elements is a good strategy for preparing multifunctional implant coatings that have both the required osteogenic and angiogenic activities. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of new-type implants on osseointegration by constructing strontium and cobalt codoped nanotubes in osteoporotic rats. Our results demonstrated that it induced more new bone formation and tighter osseointegration which may provide a new strategy for osteoporosis patients who need implant surgery.
