BICYCLE TOURING IN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE NITRA SELF-GOVERNING REGION

In present, bicycle touring is still more common way of how to use leisure time. It is one of the important elements of regional development and therefore, except application practice itself, it also attracts the attention of the scientific community. The Nitra Self-governing region with its natural, cultural-historical, and implementation preconditions provides sufficient opportunities for the development of bicycle routing. Nevertheless, it has the lowest number of kilometres of cycle routes from all regions of Slovakia. The paper analyses the issue of bicycle touring in literature, potential, and current state of bicycle touring in the Nitra Self-governing region and presents participation of the department on its development.
