LiMnPO4/C with hierarchical spindle structures was synthesized by a facile solvothermal method at 180 degrees C for 10 h. The morphology and structure of the prepared materials were controlled through the adjustment of hexamethylenetetramine (HMT). The synthesized materials were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Quantachrome instrument (Quabrasorb SI-3MP) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and so on. The prepared LiMnPO4/C exhibits good electrochemical performance, for instance, there are 153.2, 126.3, 110.2 mA h g(-1) at 0.05C, 1 C, 2 C respectively. The promising properties of the materials results from unique hierarchical nanostructures and the uniform thin carbon coating of particle surface, which improve the ionic and electronic transfer of LiMnPO4.
