摘要
Many researchers have analyzed E. M. Foster's A Passage to India on subjects as colonialism and post colonialism; cultural aspects and eco-criticism ever since its publication. This paper will mainly focuses on heroines in the novel-Adela Quested and Mrs. Moore; discussing their spiritual confusion as "superiors" in India. They tried their best to establish friendship with Indians in vain. Through analysis, the paper is able to reveal that although their trial proved a failure under huge unbridgeable cultural gap, they did what they can to develop mutual understanding between two nations.
