摘要
The integration of biochemistry teaching into a systems-based (or organ-based) medical curriculum presents certain problems in terms of the most appropriate method of assessment of the "Metabolism" component of the course. We describe a form of summative in-course assessment based on clinical case-histories. This novel approach has enhanced our students' motivation to learn "Metabolism", and has been reflected in a significant improvement in their understanding of the subject. (C) 1998 IUBMB.
