摘要
We propose a class of illusion devices that can be realized using gradient index materials. The devices are designed using quasi-conformal-mapping transformation optics through a two-step transformation, with the first mapping from the virtual space to the intermediate space and the second from the intermediate space to the physical space. These devices can render the object invisible, magnify/minify its scattering, reshape its scattering pattern, or move the object virtually. All devices are inherently broadband, low loss, and easily realizable. Moreover, the devices can be scaled down to work at optical frequencies. Numerical simulations confirm the performance. Three-dimensional illusion devices with the rotational symmetry can also be designed and implemented using the method.
