摘要
Pitting corrosion is commonly found in hull plates, which significantly reduces the structural ultimate strength. In order to address this issue, this work investigates the influence factors of pitting corrosion to the ultimate compressive bearing capacity of the hull plate. Typical factors such as the degree of pitting corrosion (DOP), depth, shape and distributions were considered in a finite element analysis (FEA) model to analyze the influence rules of the pitting parameters on the ultimate strength of the hull plate under axial compressive loads. The FEA simulation results were compared with the experimental results using the same pitting corrosion condition. The comparison demonstrates that the DOP and pitting depth significantly reduce the ultimate strength of the hull plate, and the hull plate's ultimate strength can be attributed to the loss of corrosion volume and pitting distribution. Finally, a formula for evaluating ultimate strength of the hull plate with pitting corrosion damage is proposed.
