In this paper results of researches regarding the aspects of the microgeometry of the chips and the final quality of the surface of a duralumin Al Cu4 Mg1Mn pipe type are presented. The piece was inner turned, and after processing, it was cut in two in order to determine the roughness and preview the shapes of cutting surfaces. For the cutting regime, a speed of 500 rot/min and a cutting depth of 0.5 mm were used, these values being constant, and using different values of the feed with values ranging from 0.096 mm/rot until 0.584 mm/rot. The Ra, Rz and Rq roughness parameters of the surface were obtained by the profiles micro-unevenness measured by an electronic roughness tester Mitutoyo type, a SJ-201 P model. We have also studied the aspect of the processed surfaces, both by enlarging them by microscopy and by studying the chips sections resulting during the cutting process, giving the values of the theoretical and real dimensions, also interpreted on the basis of deformations in the area cutting. The diagram shows the curves on chip sections and the distribution parameters of the cutting parameters.
