摘要
It is shown that the systematic error in determining the extent of a defect is mainly affected by two factors: the testing voltage U across the gas-discharge defect sensor and the time constant tau = RC documentclass[12pt]{minimal} of sensor's discharge circuit. It has ben established that the wire speed does not have significant effect on this error. The practical application of the established regularities to increasing the accuracy of monitoring the extent of defects in the insulation of a wire using defect meters with a gas discharge sensor is shown.
