摘要：

This article describes the work to build a picture of the presence of theories of Social Sciences in Information Science. As the object of study, the article 'Information science: the study of postmodern knowledge usage', by Gernot Wersig, was selected. Within the text, six concepts were selected through which he presents a conception of present society and two other ones by which the same author shows the role that knowledge takes in the society postulated by him. The definition of concepts led to the search for their inclusion in the field of Social Sciences and allowed to regard theories from this field and infer the adoption and use of such theories, selected by the author, in the field of Information Science.
