摘要
Behavior of isolated caffeine in Co-60- gamma radiation environment was studied in solid form as well as in aqueous medium. No degradation in solid caffeine structure was observed after exposing up to a dose of 10 kGy. In aqueous medium, 98% radiolytic degradation of caffeine was observed after application of 1.26 kGy gamma dose. Radiation chemical yield decreased with increasing dose. The degradation was mostly favored in neutral medium. Addition of ethanol decreased the radiolytic degradation efficiency.
