Binary subwavelength structures resonance gratings as polarization elements

摘要
If the grating period is of the same magnitude as the wavelength, the diffraction efficiencies and the phases of the diffracted orders depend strongly on the polarization. The sensitivity to polarization is examined for different kinds of resonance/subwavelength structures. The paper refers to binary metallic and binary dielectric structures. Design methods for modulated subwavelength structures are compared. The possible application of the considered diffractive elements in a polarization optical system is discussed.
