The favorable solar resource in Mexico and the current issues with the oil industry have encouraged the use of renewable energies such as solar photovoltaic systems connected to the grid. This paper presents the performance results of a polycrystalline silicon PV system connected to the grid in Morelos, Mexico. It provides information about the actual energy yield of newer PV plants under local climate conditions, temperature stress, shading and soiling. The PV system generated 35.15 MWh during one year of operation while a simulation of the same system generated 45.81 MWh. The average performance ratio (PR) obtained was 0.75 that is was higher that the simulated value of 0.71 due to overestimation of the solar resource.
