Pervasive 2D barcodes for camera phone applications

摘要
Six 2D barcodes were reviewed and an additional metric was used to better gauge reading reliability. The barcodes were divided into two categories that includes database 2D barcodes and index-based 2D barcodes. The database 2D barcodes include QR Code, VSCode, and Data Matrix. Several QR Code features can enhance the code's reading robustness, including error correction, a masking technique, and a structured-append function. The masking technique allocates the black and white dots evenly and helps prevent pattern duplication. The structured-append function enhances a QR Code's scalability by dividing the code into a 16 data areas. Veritec's VSCode aims to make mobile applications more secure. A distinctive feature of VSCode is its high data capacity, which lets its store biometric data for access-control applications. Veritec also offers additional security options through custom designs that use unique encryption techniques.
