Influence of kinetin and nitrogenous salts on seed germination of red sanders (Pterocarpus santalinus Linn.f.)

The effect of different periods (10-50 hrs) of soaking at different concentrations (100-500 ppm) of kinetin and nitrogenous salts on the germination of pods of Pterocarpus santalinus (red sanders) was studied. Generally 400 ppm resulted in the maximum percentage of germination in all imbibition periods except soaking of pods for 10 hrs at 500 ppm of kinetin which resulted in highest germination (80%). However, the germination percentage was decreased with increased duration of soaking at 500 ppm concentration.
