Experimental studies on the phase distribution of two copolarized signals scattered from two-dimensional rough surfaces

摘要
The experiment results of the phase distribution of millimeter-waves scattered from two-dimensional rough surfaces of controlled surface roughness statistics are presented. The statistics of phi(vv) - phi(hh) were obtained for different surfaces, including very rough surfaces which are known to create backscattering enhancement. It is shown that the distribution of phi(vv) - phi(hh) is strongly related to the surface roughness. In addition, we found that the standard deviation decreases as the incidence angle increases. This phenomena is contradictory to the reported data of radar scattering from soil.
