摘要
This paper describes the application of a finite-element model based on the modified Boussinesq equations to the analysis of harbor agitation. The model solves the modified weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive Boussinesq equations on an unstructured finite element mesh based on a Galerkin method. In order to remove the spatial third derivative terms in the governing equations, auxiliary variables are introduced. The main goal of the work is to investigate the model performance for the nonlinear coupled harbor resonant problem and compare it with experimental data. A specific set of experiments is carried out considering a simplified geometry. Comparisons between experimental and numerical results show a very good agreement.
