摘要
Due to the high hardness and wear resistant property, cemented carbide (CC) is widely used in the field of coal/rock excavation in mines. The abrasive part of the mining tool is made of CC. For many years, there have been investigations of wear mechanisms in cemented carbide (CC). Mainly the tools, such as, conical picks and drill bits have been studied for their failure phenomena. Different grades of CC have been analyzed after using them in laboratory tests and in situ operation. For the critical observation of damages, the prepared samples have been undergone through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) etc. This practice is necessary in order to develop better quality of products so that the service life of the tools can be enhanced. On the basis of literature survey, the present paper deals with a discussion of different wear mechanisms in CC after coal/rock excavation. A review of various parameters which affect the wear phenomenon of CC, has also been explained comprehensively. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
