Four new coordination polymers, namely, [Zn(D-cam)(phen)(H2O)]n (1), [Zn(D-cam)(2,2′-bipy)]n (2), [Cd(D-cam)(2,2′-bipy)2(H2O)]n (3), [Cd(D-cam)(4,4′-bipy)]n (4) (H2D-cam = D-(+)-camphoric acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2′-bipy = 2, 2′-bipyridine, 4,4′-bipy = 4, 4′-bipyridine), have been successfully obtained via hydrothermal reactions. Single crystal X-ray diffraction structural analyses revealed that compounds 1–3 show 1D infinite Zn/Cd-camphorate chain structures with suspended N-donor chelated ligands (phen or 2,2′-bipy), and compound 4 features a 2D layered structure with 4-connected sql topology. Finally, these chains or layer are further packed into 3D supramolecular frameworks via intermolecular hydrogen bonds and weak Van der Waals forces. Moreover, the thermal stabilities and luminescent properties of compounds 1–4 were also investigated. © 2020
