摘要：

Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have more reasons to be optimistic these days. New drug therapy options in combination with some older treatment methods have been shown to decrease symptom severity and improve survival time. In this article, Drs Cote and Celli discuss the latest developments in treatment of COPD and outline an approach to pharmacologic therapy and overall management that can improve the quality and length of life for patients with this disease.
