摘要：

The preface discusses the summary of the special issue consisting of 23 peer-reviewed papers on the thematic area of "Certified Reference Materials'' (CRM) for Scientific and Industrial Applications. These papers discuss the need, use, current practices, and research on the development of RMs and CRMs by different national and international research groups. The significance of CRM use is identified at various levels like food safety, atomic research, healthcare, analytical test methods, environmental cleanliness, etc. Such initiatives under quality management systems and regulatory controls are the stepping stones to improving quality of life.
