Synthesis and quantum-chemical study of germanium-containing 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine derivatives

摘要
Germanium tetrahalides (GeCl4, GeBr4) react with bis(trimethylsilyl) ether of 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine (2,6-C5H3N(CH2OSiMe3)(2) to give the corresponding dihalogermanes 2,6-C5H3(CH2O)(2)GeHal(2) (Hal = Cl, Br), the first germanium-containing 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine derivatives. The structure of the products is supported by elemental analysis, H-1 and C-13 NMR, and mass spectrometry data. Comparison of the geometrical parameters of 2,6-C5H3(CH2O)(2)GeHal(2) calculated by the density functional theory method with the experimental and calculated values for the analogous silicon and tin compounds makes it possible to formulate the basic structural features of element-containing pyridine-based macrocycles.
