THE FREGE'S VAGUENESS. A NEW LOOK ON REVIEW OF E. HUSSERL'S PHILOSOPHY OF ARITHMETIC

In his first book, Philosophy of Arithmetic, Edmund Husserl presents a careful examination of his early phenomenological analyses in order to explain what a concept of number is. Certainly, Philosophy of Arithmetic soon made its way among existing inquiries on the foundation of mathematics. It was precisely inside this group of publications that one of the most important philosophical controversies begun: the review of Philosophy of Arithmetic, made by Frege in 1894. The aim of this article is to show that Frege's reading of Husserl in review of Philosophy of Arithmetic contains a series of mistakes and confusions. In order to achieve this goal, we will present the aspects of Husserl's doctrine of number not considered by Frege.
