Molecules as probe of the temperature distribution in the atmospheres of cool giants

摘要：
In this contribution, we will demonstrate how molecular spectra of cool giants, as will be recorded by CRIRES and VISIR, can be used to pin down the temperature distribution in the outermost layers of these cool giants, in that way contributing to questions concerning stellar structure and evolution.
