Electronic patient records

The Healthcare Data Information Corporation (HDIC) is an initiative of the California healthcare industry established to facilitate the efficient use of electronic communications in healthcare and to ensure appropriate, secure access to health information. HDIC has developed a Virtual Intranet strategy to provide universal electronic connectivity, security services controlling user authentication and access to information, and a common infrastructure for implementing network-based application solutions. One of HDIC's primary objectives is to enable the development of a consolidated individual health record readily accessible to authorized parties.
