Growth and characterizations of La2CaB10O19 crystal from the new Li2B4O7-MoO3 flux system with lower volatility and viscosity

摘要
A new flux, Li2B4O7 - MoO3, has been successfully used to grow La2CaB10O19 (LCB) single crystals by the top seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. The suitable region for LCB crystal growth was investigated by growth experiments, and measurements of volatility and viscosity, which confirmed that the appropriate molar ratios of LCB: Li2B4O7 : MoO3 are 1: 2.3: (1-1.5). The characterizations, including X-ray rocking curve, transmission spectra, optical weak absorption, and laser-induced damage threshold, have been performed on the as-grown crystal, which indicated that the LCB crystal grown from new LCB - Li2B4O7 - MoO3 system exhibits high optical quality.
