摘要
The tribological properties of hard chromium coated 1010 carbon steel were investigated under different sliding distances using a pin-on-disc machine. The coefficient of friction was found to decrease as the sliding distance increases. Few thin microcracks initiated at the surfaces of hard chromium layer with a thickness of 7.5 mu m. The severity of cracking is increased with increasing the coating thickness. The wear tracks of the hard chromium coated layers also showed similar cracking behavior. (C) 2010 Elsevier Masson SAS.
