Synthesis and crystal structure of octakis(dimethyl sulfoxide)lanthanum(III) undecaiodotetramercurate(II)

摘要：
The new complex octakis(dimethyl sulfoxide)lanthanum(III) undecaiodotetramercurate(II) [La(DMSO)(8)][Hg4I11] (I), where DMSO is CH3SOCH3, is synthesized and structurally characterized. Crystals I are monoclinic: a = 22.425(7) Angstrom, b = 12.542(4) Angstrom, c = 11.548(4) Angstrom alpha = 90degrees, beta = 101.93(2)degrees, gamma = 90degrees, V = 3177.9(18) Angstrom(3), Z = 2, rho(calc) = 3.096 g/cm(3). The lanthanum coordination polyhedron is a distorted square antiprism; mercury has a tetrahedral environment.
