摘要
Seven comparative trials with over 2000 patients enrolled show no definitive evidence that high dose chemotherapy with stem cell support offers a survival advantage for metastatic breast cancer over conventional dose chemotherapy. Though numbers are low and small differences may exist particularly in subsets of patients, the duration of follow-up is adequate to make the likelihood of a late benefit low. High dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplantation does not have a place in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer outside of clinical trials.
