Tuning structural and optical properties of blue-emitting polymeric semiconductors

摘要
We present a comparison of the optical properties of blue-emitting polymers with varying backbone conformation under pressure. Among them alkyl substituted side chain polyfluorenes (PF) have a rich phase morphology. The effect of pressure on the backbone emission allows an understanding of the localized and delocalized electronic states and energy transfer mechanisms. The photoluminescence spectra are characterized by well-defined vibronic peaks, which red-shift and broaden with increasing pressure. Effects on both interchain and intrachain ordering in these polymer chains can be deduced from such optical studies under pressure. The Raman spectra under pressure provide insight into structural changes as well as electron-phonon interactions in PFs. (C) 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
