Methodology for charging autoclaves at high pressures and temperatures with acid gases

摘要
A simple equation of state (EOS) applicable to defining autoclave test environments was developed. The approach is particularly helpful when mixed gases (carbon dioxide [CO2]/hydrogen sulfide [H2S]) must be used. Test liquids may consist of an aqueous and a hydrocarbon phase, or the gases may be added at room temperature (RT) prior to heat-up. Solubilities for CO2 and H2S in various liquids have been reviewed and data verifying the EOS presented. A sensitivity analysis reviewed the effects of possible misassessment of the solubilities, and comments have been made regarding the process of preparing test environments in pressure vessels.
