摘要
Brain stem ischemic stroke are characterized by nonspecific clinical manifestations. Another problem is the usual normality of cerebral CT scan. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging is the gold standard for diagnosis. However, this exploration can be not available or contraindicated in many situations. Brain perfusion scintigraphy can be a diagnostic option. It allows objectifying interruption or significant impairment of blood supply to the brain and detecting both the presence and the extent of infarction. We report the case of a patient who is admitted in intensive care for coma in whom the diagnosis of brain stem ischemic stroke is confirmed by brain perfusion scintigraghy.
