Synthesis and biological activity of certain 1-substituted-4-benzylidene-2-phenyl-5-imidazolones

摘要
1-Substituted-4-benzylidene-2-phenyl-5-imidazolone derivatives 4-7, 9-15 have been synthesised for their potential biological activity. The synthesis involves the base and acid catalyzed reactions of azide 3 and/or acid chloride 2. Compounds 5c and 5d are easily cyclized to give 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives 6a and 6b. Representative examples of internal Friedel-Craft and [4+2]cycloaddition have also been investigated.
