摘要
Depressive disorders are the most common psychiatric pathology. Because the classic monoaminergic theory of depression has certain drawbacks the role of adult neurogenesis and its abnormalities in the development of depression have become widely debated in the literature during the last decade. However, the main bulk of the data that form the basis of this hypothesis were obtained in animal-model experiments, whereas the data about changes in adult neurogenesis during psychiatric pathology in the human brain remain scattered. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to present an overview of the existing data concerning changes in adult neurogenesis in the hippocampal neurogenic zone during different depressive disorders in humans.
