The chemical components in the benzene/ethanol extractives of fresh castanopsis fissa wood were isolated and identified by Py-GC/MS. The relative content of each component was determined by peak area normalization. 68 compounds. in the extractives were identified. The mainly abundant constituents were acetic acid (7.24%), phenol,2methoxy (6.32%), acetone (4.90%), carbon dioxide (4.53%), phenol, 2, 6-dimethoxy-(4.39%), 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol (4.43%), naphthalene,l, 6, 7-trimethyl-(2.94%), ethyl alpha.-d-glucopyranoside (3.08%), 2-propanone,1-hydroxy- (2.25%), hexadecanoic acid,ethyl ester (2.00%), n-hexadecanoic acid (1.84%), alpha-d-ribopyranoside, methyl (1.50%), 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrafluoroanisole (1.72%), ethanol (1.77%), phenol, 2-methoxy-4-methyl-(1.67%), 1-propanol (1.63%), phenol, 2-methoxy-4-propyl-(1.39%), 9, 12-octadecadienoic acid (Z, Z)-(1.26%), hydrazine (1.37%), benzaldehyde, 3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-(1.19%), stigmasterol, 22,23-dihydro-(1.16%), megastigmatrienone (1.13%), stigmastan-3, 5-diene (1.06%), phenol, 4-ethyl-2-methoxy-(0.99%), hexanoic acid, 6-bromo- (0.99%), 1, 4-benzenediol, 2-methoxy-(0.89%), cedrane,8-propoxy-(0.88%), etc. Most components in the benzene/ethanol extractives of the fresh Castanopsis fissa wood may be used for biomaterials and bioenergy.
