Benign sacrococcygeal teratoma in an adult

Sacrococcygeal teratomas are rare congenital tumors generally discovered at birth. Exceptionally these tumors are observed in adults. Radical resection must be performed to avoid potentially malignant recurrence even if the primary lesion was benign. We report a case of a benign sacroccygeal teratoma diagnosed in a 25-year-old mate and discuss clinical features, pathological considerations and treatment. (C) 2007 Elsevier Masson SAS.
