Nonmonotonic Rate Dependence of the Dynamic Yield Strength of Alloys under High Strain Rate Deformation

摘要
The glide of edge dislocations in an aged binary alloy under high strain rate deformation is studied theoretically. An analytic expression has been obtained for the rate dependence of the dynamic yield strength. The conditions at which the plot of the rate dependence can have two maxima and two minima have been found. The existence of two the maxima is related to the existence of two types of defects having significantly different sizes (the second component atoms and the Guinier-Preston zones). The minima take place in going from the predominance of dynamic drag by one type of defects to the predominance of the defects of another type. The maxima appear as the character of the drag by the dominant defects is changed.
