摘要
We report a comparative study between the properties of sulfoselenide materials and conventional LED phosphors. These properties include high refractive index and unique thermal and optical behavior that are observed in both bulk and nanocrystal materials. Solid forms of these luminescent materials were developed for the first time, offering real potential for index-matching to InGaN without the use of epoxy or silicone at the interface. We also report on doped ZnSe nanocrystals where the absorption properties are a function of shell thickness and the emission properties are a function of the activator. Both the solid (macrophosphors) and the nanocrystalline (nanophosphors) forms of these sulfoselenide materials offer unique potential for achieving high outcoupling and conversion efficiencies in UV/blue LEDs by reducing both scattering and total internal reflection losses.
