摘要
There are multiple ways to optimize a query execution time in database systems, but one of the most usual ways is to use indexing techniques. In database courses at University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, we teach students about these techniques and we want to improve lab sessions by providing them with as much knowledge in short amount of time. We have created Indexing Learning Tool (ILT) to help our students learn about indices and their usage in database systems. With this tool students can make fast changes in data structures and try different indexing techniques on different use cases. ILT provides new insights into the usage of indexing techniques, their advantages and disadvantages.
