摘要
The electrochemical reduction behaviour of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)-2,3-epoxy propan-1-one has been studied by employing cyclic voltammetry, d.c, polarography, a.c, polarography, differential pulse polarographic techniques in the universal buffers of pH ranging from 2.0 - 12.0 in DMF-Water mixtures. Two waves/peaks corresponding to the reduction of nitro to hydroxylamine with 4e addition and epoxide to hydroxy derivative with 2e have been observed in the acidic medium while in the basic solutions, additional wave/peak with 2e involvement due to reduction of keto group has been noticed. Kinetic parameters such as diffusion coefficients, transfer coefficients and heterogeneous forward rate constant values are evaluated and reported, An analytical method has been described for the determination of the title compound with a lower detection limit of 2.3 x 10(-8) M and relative standard deviation of 1.8%.
