摘要
We study a simple model consisting of two coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations to display the interplay between transient linear growth and nonlinear effects. Specifically, we seek to examine any possible links between the initial conditions that yield maximum transient linear growth and those initial conditions that first lead to attraction to a stable critical point other than the origin. Our results show that any such link is only apparent when the nonlinearity is small.
