Effects of xylanase treatments on straw pulps bleaching

摘要
Wheat straw represents an important raw material for the pulp and paper industry. Acidic and alkaline treatments were used to obtain pulps which were then bleached using conventional chemical agents and xylanolitic enzymes. The effect of enzymes on lignin-carbohydrate complex was evidenced by (13) C-NMR spectra and by chemical composition's modifications. At the same time, an improving of papermaking properties of the obtained pulps was evidenced when using enzymatic preparations. The results indicated that brightness gains after enzyme treatments are dependent on the source of enzyme and pulp provenience. Thus, the pulps produced by alkaline delignification were more susceptible to enzyme treatment comparatively with those resulted under acidic conditions.
