Multiband characterized high gain MIMO antenna for terahertz applications

摘要
A novel two-element MIMO antenna that covers almost the entire terahertz band by its multiband characteristics is proposed in this paper. Initially, an antenna having multiple inverted "L" arms to realize multiple operating bands across the THz range is designed with Rogers RT6010 dielectric. This is then extended into two linear arrays separated by isolating structure to form MIMO antenna with eight bands (1.57, 2.05, 3.46, 4.47, 6.82, 8.3, 8.9, and 9.6 THz) having a miniaturized size of 28x40 mu m. Thus the combination of MIMO and THz frequency brings high gain, high efficiency, and higher data rate along with maximum reliability. These advantages of the proposed antenna find its applications in the fields of medical, automotive, food processing, etc. The proposed MIMO antenna multiband characteristics are validated with the simulation results and its radiation patterns at certain frequencies are analyzed.
