Performance analysis of Ka-band satellite channel capacity in the presence of rain attenuation

摘要
Rain attenuation is the most dominant cause of signal degradation in satellite links operation at Ka-band. Presently, most rain compensation algorithms came frorn the aspect of the application of power and bandwidth and were based on the use of a fixed, large fade margin to combat occasional deep fades. However, such the use of a fixed margin, especially for a rainy region, results in an inefficient use of channel capacity. In this paper based on the effective utilization of the channel capacity, the performance of Ka-band satellite channel capacity in the presence of rain attenuation is discused. On the base of analysis some useful results are obtained.
