摘要
A detector capable of measuring fast neutrons based on proton recoil process has been developed. It consists of a 1 mm thick paraffin wax proton recoil radiator attached to a CVD diamond him charged particle detector. Its radiation hardness and low gamma sensitivity make diamond advantageous over other semi-conductor materials as a neutron counter. Measurements have been carried out with an accelerator neutron source and it has been shown that fast 2.85 MeV neutrons can be detected with improved efficiency and good gamma discrimination. Possible applications of this detector are also discussed. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
