Semi-solid metal processing of aluminum alloy A356 and magnesium alloy AZ91: Comparison based on metallurgical considerations

摘要
A comparison of semi-solid metal processing of aluminum alloy A356 and magnesium alloy AZ91 was presented. Semi-solid processing and the properties of the components were significantly influenced by the presence and morphology of eutectic phases. It was found that the established aluminum alloy A356 was suitable for semi-solid casting and its mechanical properties were better than those of conventionally cast alloys.
