Internal friction, plastic properties, and impact toughness of V-Ti-Cr alloys

摘要
The acoustical properties (Young's modulus, logarithmic decrement) of V-Ti-Cr alloys prepared using different technologies (in Russia, Japan, and the United States) are investigated in the temperature range from similar to 100 to 300 K. It is revealed that, for all the alloys under investigation, the temperature dependences of the logarithmic decrement for the specimens subjected to plastic bending exhibit a characteristic sharp kink at temperatures of 180-230 K. The temperature at which there appears this specific feature in the acoustic experiment is close to the brittle-ductile transition temperature determined from impact tests.
