摘要
This paper proposes an alternative method alternative to improve the environmental sustainability of the dairy industry. This was achieved by using the permeate and retentate obtained from rinse water treated by nano filtration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO). The rinse water was subjected to NF and RO processes under different operating conditions, and the permeate and retentate flow and quality were evaluated. RO treatment for the recovery of milk solids from rinse water is an effective environmental strategy for the dairy industry. This process can produce water for on-site use as cooling water and a white milk-based stream to be added to fermented milk beverages and dulce de leche. For a dairy company processing 1000 m(3) of milk per day, the economic assessment showed potential profits of US$349,000 per year.
