Diffusion and deformation models of mechanochemical synthesis

摘要
The calculation results on the kinetics of mechanical alloying in a 3Fe+C mixture were presented. The calculation equations were based on concepts about the decisive role of inter diffusion in the elastic stress field. The activation energy of carbon atom diffusion along the grain boundaries of iron was also calculated. The concepts of deformation as a flux of carbon atoms through the Fe lattice with the rate independent of conditions of mechanical treatment were discussed. It was found that the magnitude of stress providing a drift of impurity atoms along the grain boundaries inside the polycrystalline iron particles was independent of the kinetic energy of the ball colliding with the powder layer.
